Hi,
This proved to be just the first of many challenges that the Company staff would overcome through teamwork, tenacity and ingenuity.

Here, they are talking about the inauguration ceremony of a specific company. They are saying that they faced a big organisational challenge and they succeeded in finding a resolution.

But what I'm wondering is the following: "This proved to be just the first of many challenges ..."
Do they mean that the staff faced afterwards many challenges and was able to solve...
Or do they project that the staff would certainly overcome any challenge faced because of their proven tenacity and ingenuity?

Please Help.
Thanks !
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
